Day 1 | Begin Your Tour / Arrive Into London
Welcome to your ‘Cox & Kings European delights’ tour. Your Cox & Kings representative greets you at the hotel, after you comfortably check in on your own (check in after 1400hrs). This afternoon assemble in the lobby at 15.30hrs. and live history through a guided panoramic highlight tour of london city. Get acquainted with some of London’s iconic landmarks like the Tower Bridge, River Thames, London Eye, Tower of London, Hyde Park, Big Ben, Westminster Palace, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the famous Piccadilly Circus, Nelson’s column at Trafalgar Square followed by the Majesty of Buckingham Palace which is the Queen’s official residence. Don’t waste a minute, as the rest of the evening is free to explore this city on your own !
Give in to some great bargains from the many malls around and then allow London’s varied restaurants to further weaken your resistance! Remember chicken tikka masala is almost a national dish here!
Day 2 | Onto Belgium / Eurotunnel To Calais / Orientation Tour Of Brussels / Visit Keukenhof / Madurodam / Scheveningen
On to Folkstone, cross the English Channel and arrive in Calais. Then drive on to Brussels – the Elegant Capital City, also the seat of the European Union, with an air of bustling efficiency!
A short orientation tour takes you through picturesque medieval streets to the magnificent Gothic St. Michael’s Cathedral. Then via Galeries Saint Hubert the world’s first shopping mall, opened in 1847, to the Grand Place, Europe’s most beautiful square. This exquisite market square is the main tourist attraction of the city. Time permitting, shop here for world famous Belgian lace, chocolate and Belgian Waffles dusted with caramelized sugar. Mmmm! Visit the Mannekin Pis, (photo stop) – the cheeky statue of a boy, representing the “irreverent spirit” of Brussels, which has drawn sightseers for centuries. Drive through Dutch countryside. If you come to Holland when tulips are in bloom (only from March 21st to May 20th) visit the famous Keukenhof Tulip Gardens. The rest of the year visit madurodam, the enchanting miniature city that features the best of the Netherlands. Drive to Scheveningen to ‘Baywatch’. After dinner check into your hotel.

Day 3 | Onto Cologne / Visit Amsterdam / Canal Cruise / Visit Cologne
Today, after breakfast, the Windmills which still wield their magic will enchant you. There’s a photo stop at one. We now drive to Amsterdam. Clogs, Cheese and Holland are inseparable and a factory visit demonstrates this business. The canals beckon as you board a glass topped boat and glide past regal mansions, houseboats and bridges. A canal cruise in Amsterdam is a rewarding experience. Spend some free time at Dam Square with the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), the Royal Palace and the National Monument. Continue your scenic drive to Cologne. Visit the Cologne Cathedral (when open for visitors) – the first Gothic Church in the Rhineland with its characteristic spires. After that enjoy some free time.There are some interesting shopping areas right outside of the Cathedral. After dinner check into your hotel.

Day 4 | Onto Switzerland / Drive through the Black Forest / Visit Drubba / Visit Lucerne
This morning an enjoyable drive through the Black Forest to arrive at Drubba, the alpine nest of the Cuckoo Clock situated in the unique Hollental (Hell’s Valley), directly at the mouth of the Ravennaschult (Ravenna Glen). Witness a demonstration to explain the making of authentic cuckoo clocks in their original form, each piece carefully crafted for precision! The Cuckoo Clock is said to have originated between 1740 and 1750 and has remained more or less unchanged in its unique design. A visit here is a memorable experience. Drive to lucerne with its picturesque mountains, lakes, cowbells, alpine villages and meadows full of edelweiss. Pause at the poignant Lion Monument, built to commemorate the brave Swiss soldiers killed during the French Revolution. Stroll along the covered, wooden Kappellbrucke (chapel bridge), to the ornate Jesuit Church. You will have your first encounter with the marvels of Swiss shopping. Most visitors take home two things – memories of a beautiful country and a Swiss watch. After a memorable day and dinner drive to your hotel.

Day 5 | Day at Leisure / Optional Excursion To The Jungfrau / Indian Lunch / Visit interlaken
The day is free, but do take advantage of our optional excursion to the Jungfrau, the ‘Top of Europe’, a wonderful world of glaciers and eternal ice. Onto Jungfrau. Reach the highest altitude railway station in Europe amid stunning and dramatic mountain scenery! What could be more tempting in this icy cold scenario than a hot indian lunch! Walk on the great Aletsch Glacier. Visit the Sphinx Observation Terrace. Experience the new Cinema Experience with the new Alpine sensation attraction, and the glistening Ice Palace. Descend to interlaken, cradled cozily between the beautiful lakes of Brienz and Thun, where you see horse-drawn carriages. You will have another encounter with the marvels of Swiss shopping. Next to a virtually unlimited selection of watches and jewellery, every store carries gifts and souvenirs, priced for every pocket. Later after dinner return to your hotel. Day 6 | Onto Innsbruck / Visit Vaduz / Visit Swarovski Crystal Worlds/ Orientation Of innsbruck
Today your drive takes you to picture perfect Austria, enroute, pause at the Principality of Liechtenstein and stop at Vaduz – the capital, to enjoy a short orientation. Vaduz is famous for its postage stamps. Next halt at the internationally renowned Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, and prepare to be dazzled at the ‘Chambers of Wonder’! In a wondrous blue hall dominated by a Unicum- a wall of crystal, you see the world’s biggest crystal and it’s smallest! Over 7 million people from all corners of the globe, have already been thrilled by the Swarovski experience – now you are one of them! Continue a scenic drive to Innsbruck. Located on the Inn River, Innsbruck is one of Europe’s most beautiful and lively cities. An international centre for winter sports, it has hosted the Winter Olympics twice! Our orientation tour introduces you to its world famous sights. View the Golden Roof or ‘Goldenes Dachl’, an Gothic balcony erected by the Emperor Maximilian I in the 15th century, decorated with gold painted copper shingles. Next walk to the Imperial Church followed by the ‘Hofburg’ or Imperial Palace. This Capital of the Alps, has a history of 800 years! Later check into your hotel.

Day 7 | Onto Venice / Walking Tour Of Venice
Today your journey takes you on a fascinating drive to the magical lagoon city of Venice. The captivating canals and palaces of Venice are simply unique! Built on 117 small islands, it is a pedestrian’s city, so get set for a walking tour. Cruise from Tronchetto Pier and glide romantically past fairytale palaces Disembark and walk to the Piazza San Marco (St. Marks Square). Pass the Doge’s Palace, connected by the ‘Bridge of Sighs’ to its prisons. It was from here that the legendary lover Casanova made his famous escape! Witness the bronze Moors striking the hour, as they have been doing for the past 500 years! End this exciting tour with a brief visit to a Murano Glass Show Room where you will see a demonstration of hand blown world famous Venetian glass (when open to visitors). Return to Tronchetto Pier. Day 8 | Onto Umbria / Visit Florence
Drive across the Apennine Mountains, to Florence, a shrine to the wonders of the Renaissance, Included in your walking tour of the city of Florence is a visit to the remarkable Duomo (when open for visitors). Besides it is the ‘Gates of Paradise’ – the heavenly gilded bronze doors of the Baptistry and the open air gallery in Signoria Square. Walk on the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest surviving bridge in the city. Happy shopping ! After an exciting tour, drive through a stretch of olive groves and vineyards to your hotel where on arrival you will be checked in after dinner.

Day 9 | Full Day Excursion To Rome / Visit The Vatican museum With The sistine Chapel / Visit The Vatican / Guided City Tour Of Rome
‘Rome was not built in a day’- the truth of this oft quoted adage hits you with full force, as we pack in all the ‘must see’ agenda into our guided panoramic highlight city tour! According to legend, Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus in 753 BC. Start your introduction to Rome with a journey to The Vatican the smallest nation in the world! Visit the Vatican museum, one of the largest museum complexes in the world. A must see is the sistine Chapel. The most famous square of the Vatican is St. Peter’s Square with St. Peter’s Basilica, the spiritual centre of Christendom. Tribute is paid to the brave Gladiators, with a photo stop at the mighty Colosseum. Pass the ruins of the Roman Forum and end the tour at the famous Trevi Fountain. Day 10 | Onto Switzerland / Visit Pisa
Onto Pisa, the hometown of Galileo and a city, which makes the most of its claim to fame – its Leaning Tower! At a photo stop here, note its striking beauty along with its characteristic tilt. It is the Duomo’s (Cathedral) Bell Tower. Together with the Baptistry, these are all a part of the Field of Miracles. Drive to Switzerland and after dinner check into your hotel.

Day 11 | Onto Paris / Visit To Glacier 3000
Today glacier 3000 Awaits ! Cox & Kings gives you another first with the launch of glacier 3000. Ride the snow Bus over the glacier – a unique experience of a comfortable ride on the eternal snow. Enjoy a souvenir for each family. A special adrenaline kick with a wild ride on the alpine Coaster (weather permitting), the world’s highest bobsleigh track. You can cruise along at approx. 40 km/hour and with the brakes you determine how fast you want to go. There is also a tribute to your visit with Cox & Kings. Return to Col du Pillion. Enjoy a spectacular journey as you enjoy a comfortable drive of approximately seven hrs. to Paris, the ‘City of Lights’. After dinner check into your hotel.

Commencing at the ruins of the Maruhubi Palace, via the site of David Livingston’s house (one of Africa’s greatest explorers) the journey continues north toward the Kidichi Persian Baths. From here we continue to the rural areas where local farmers live & produce some of the world’s most exotic fruit and spices. Cloves, star fruit, ‘bulls heart’, tangerine trees, lemon grass, mangosteen and lip-stick trees, to name but a few, are what you can expect to see – according to the seasons. Perhaps you will fancy buying a basket of freshly picked spices to take home with you!
Jozani Forest lies about 35 km southeast of Zanzibar township in Zanzibar’s South Region. It is the only remaining natural forest on Unguja Island (which along with Pemba make up the islands of Zanzibar). The forest which covers an area of 10 sq km consists of woodland, swamp forest and evergreen forest. It provides an important refuge for the remaining Ungula fauna such as the rare red colobus monkey, small Zanzibar leopard and two antelope species: the Zanzibar duicker and sunni.
In 1879, Bawe Island was given by Seyid Barghash bin Seyid, 3rd Omani Sultan of Zanzibar, to the Eastern Telegraph Company to be used as the operations station for the underwater telegraphic cable linking Cape Town with Zanzibar, Seychelles and Aden. The agreement was extended ten years later, in 1889, by the next Sultan, Seyid Khalifa bin Seyid. To accommodate the Cable & Wireless staff, Bungalows were built on the island, which were used also to host weekend parties when other town-based staff would visit and enjoy the beach with their families. Bawe is renowned for its breathtaking marine life, making it a popular site for both snorkelling and scuba diving.
This half day tour takes you to kizimkazi along south-west coast of Zanzibar, upon arrival at the fishing village Kizimkazi you will have a brief talk about the behaviors and different types of dolphins before proceeding to the dolphins locations with 80% chances to see them. There is a fair chance you will get to play and swim with them, returning to the sea shore in the afternoon. Several bottle-nose dolphins stay at Kizimkazi all year-round. There are also rather shyer humpback dolphins that put in an appearance here, although their schedule is a little more erratic.
North coast tour. This trip leads you through one spice farm, Mangapwani Slave Caves and Chambers, and on to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Nungwi. The most wonderful place to relax and unwind after the dust and humidity of Stone Town. Pack your swimwear and enjoy a cool drink in paradise.
This tour starts an hour before sunset. You are picked up from your hotel and transferred to the drop off point at the sea front, where you then board the dhow. The skilled crew on board take the dhow about 1 km from the shore by means of an engine. Once out at sea the engine is shut off and during a tense moment the skillful crew hoist the sail, then you can sit and relax enjoying the peacefulness of the ocean as the dhow glides through the water. You can watch the wonder of the fiery golden sun setting beyond the horizon, whilst savouring a glass of chilled wine.
Forget fishing in a modern fishing vessel with the latest in reels and rods and fighting chairs. We offer you the unique opportunity to sail out to sea with a Zanzibari fisherman and see what ‘fishing for a living’ is all about. Whilst the crew are busy preparing fishing nets the timelessness of this tradition will carry you far from the pace of the modern world. On returning to Zanzibar Island we will take you to see the colourful, bustling fish market where the fresh catches of the day are auctioned.
A sea excursion in a traditional wooden dhow, made by hand on Zanzibar Island. The dhow is the same as those which were used to carry slaves from the mainland to Zanzibar. This trip will take you to Prison Island, home to the giant tortoise, then on to a sandbank where you can have soft drinks and snacks. A perfect place for swimming and snorkelling. On a full day excursion you then have time for fishing.
